driving test information

This is not third-party testing. I will be taking the student to the Pasco County tax collector's office, where they will administer the road test. The advantage of this is:

• You get your license printed the same day (unless there's a random computer/printer issue at the Tax Collector).
• Since the government is administering the test, there are no random re-test possibilities like with third party testing.

If you live in Hillsborough County, you can still use this service, but Pasco County has three restrictions:

1. You have to be a US Citizen. Pasco county does not accept out of county residents that are     Green card holders or anyone here on a temporary visa status.

2. You can not go on Saturday. Saturday's are reserved for Pasco residents only.

3. You must have an appointment. You cannot do walk-in service if you are not a Pasco resident.

I have two options for this service.

Option 1: $109.00 includes meeting at the Pasco Tax Collector Office located at 4610 Pet Lane (it's their Wesley Chapel Office), practicing all driving test maneuvers for up to 30 minutes, then the student must have transportation back home from the tax collector office. The only time for this option is if you go first thing in the morning (You would have to meet me at the Tax Collector at 8:25am). Anything later than that runs into multiple time slots and I have to charge the equivalent of two lessons ($218.00).

Option 2: $218.00 includes pickup at home, school, or work, practicing all driving test maneuvers for up to 30 minutes, and transportation back home (this service is only offered to students that live within 30 minutes of the Pasco County Tax Collector's Wesley Chapel Office).

So, the main difference is option 1 the student provides transportation to the Pasco Tax Collector Office (Wesley Chapel location) and back home and must be done at 10:15am or earlier, option 2 is full service which includes pickup and drop off and can be done anytime of the day. 

TO USE THE DRIVING TEST SERVICE I OFFER:

• YOU MUST BE A STUDENT WITH MY SCHOOL.
• IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OLD. YOU MUST HAVE HAD YOUR LEARNERS PERMIT/LICENSE FOR ONE FULL YEAR.
• WE MUST HAVE A DRIVING TEST APPOINTMENT WITH THE TAX COLLECTOR (I WILL SCHEDULE THAT WHEN YOU CALL TO BOOK THE APPOINTMENT WITH ME). I DO NOT OFFER THIS SERVICE BY GOING TO THE TAX COLLECTOR AS A WALK-IN.

Student Responsibilities: To have all proper documentation and fees for the tax collector, to be able to pass a vision test given by the tax collector, and to take the test when called by the tax collector road test examiner. If the student fails to meet their responsibilities and the driving test does not take place because of it, there will be no refund of driving test fees.

Tax Collector Responsibilities: To administer the driving test. If the tax collector fails to meet their responsibilities and the driving test does not take place for any reason (including, but not limited to weather and computer/internet problems) there will be a refund of 50% of the driving test fees.

Safe Drivers Florida Responsibilities: To make the appointment at the Tax Collector, to make sure the car can pass the pre-test vehicle inspection, to supply all documentation required for the test vehicle, and to fulfill the obligations outlined in Option 1 or Option 2 on the driving test page of the website. If Safe Drivers Florida fails to meet our responsibilities and the driving test does not take place because of it, the student will be refunded 100% of the driving test fees or the student can elect to go back at a later date at no additional cost.

You must call the office at 813-679-0295 to book driving test appointments. You will need the student's learner's permit number and date of birth to schedule this appointment, so please have this information available when you call.

What you will need the day of your test:

1. Your learner's permit

2. A form of payment to cover the $6.25 service fee for the tax collector. You can bring cash or a credit or debit card, but the card must be in the customer's name (the name of the person taking the driving test). For card payments they do charge an additional fee.

3. If you are under 18 you will also need a parental consent form that certifies the driving experience of a minor which must be notarized. The form can be found here: https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/71143.pdf
